IPOB congratulates members for aborting Buhari's visit to Enugu

The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has hailed its members and supporters as well as Biafrans for stopping the proposed visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Enugu.

Buhari was billed to declare open the South East Economic summit held yesterday in Enugu, but IPOB had threatened the President to steer clear from the event or be ready to die with them.

IPOB accused Buhari of killing Biafra agitators and bearing deep animosity against Biafrans, hence he is not welcome in any Biafra land.

The South East Senate caucus had also boycotted the summit saying there were no proper consultations.
According to Sen Enyinnaya Abaribe who spoke on behalf of the Senators, what South East needs most is economic and infrastructural transformation not security summit as tagged by the organisers of the event, adding that the zone has also suffered unprecedented marginalisation especially by the current federal government.

IPOB in a press statement issued yesterday by its Media and Publicity Officer, Emma Powerful, hailed everyone who contributed in stopping Buhari from attending the event, insisting that Buhari has no moral justification to visit Biafran soil saying he is unrepentant hater of Biafrans.

The statement read in part: “We thank everybody who participated in making this efforts a reality.

“ We thank Chukwu Okike Abiama because the federal government would have seen what they have not seen before because we are Biafrans not Nigeria and we know why we chose nonviolent approach towards this noble cause; not out of fear.”
